Child Safety Standards
Last updated 26 October 2026
Ding Dong Messenger is used by teenagers, and protecting them is the reason it exists. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation of any kind.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. To report child sexual exploitation anywhere online, you can also contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.
What is never allowed
- Any sexual image or video of anybody under 18, real or generated, including one somebody took of themselves.
- Grooming: an adult, or anybody, building a relationship with a minor in order to sexually exploit them.
- Sextortion: threatening to share images, or asking for images, money or anything else under threat.
- Sexualising minors in words, images or any other way.
- Trafficking, or arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes.
An account that does any of these is removed, and the person is not welcome back.
How Ding Dong is built to prevent it
- Strangers cannot reach anybody. There is no user search and no directory. A person can only be added with a handle or invite code they chose to share, and every request needs their yes.
- Images can't be captured. With safe mode on, which it is for every new account, nothing in the app can be screenshotted or screen-recorded. Photos are view-only unless the sender lets a particular person save them.
- Photos carry nothing else. Location and camera details are removed on the phone before a photo is sent.
- It's for ages 13 and up. Accounts we learn belong to somebody under 13 are deleted.
How to report it
Inside the app, any message, person or group can be reported:
- A message: press and hold it, then tap Report.
- A person or a group: tap ⋯ at the top right of the chat, then Report.
Or email support@dingdongusa.com. A real person reads every report. The person reported is never told who reported them.
What we do with a report
We review it, keep what was reported as evidence, remove the account responsible, and report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as United States law requires. We cooperate with law enforcement.
